Remember the story of the Tortoise and Hare? The Hare was so confident and cocky to a fault…so much so that the Tortoise beat him in the race! Slow and steady wins the race; not all the hype and hoopla.
But false claims and “over promising” online has to go! OMG! The loser is more than the hare who is bragging but the customer who put their trust in the claims of that “hare.”
I remember seeing people claiming to be “social media experts” and they had just got on most of the platforms and didn’t have a clue on what they were doing. They were just chasing dollars. I saw people helping other people become “best selling authors” and their books were ranking on the bottom on Amazon. But the funniest thing was seeing people putting together LIVE seminars on how to become “six figure sisters” and they were using free websites like WIX and Weebly. Right. How “six-figure” is that when you can’t even afford your own website?
But it’s takes more than just graphics, a slick video and a great sales copy to really sustain in this business of entrepreneurship – especially online. I think people are smart enough to know who is “legit” and who is just needs to quit!
I’ve been in my “calling” of this career for more than two decades. I love what I do and I have a lifestyle that I love. But more than that, I get to share my gifts, passion and knowledge that makes a difference in the lives of others. Don’t take my word for it. Here are two “unsolicited” comments I got just the other day from those who witnessed “my magic” when it comes to defining brand position, building platforms, promotion and social media creativity.
“There are seven things that will destroy us: Wealth without work; Pleasure without conscience; Knowledge without character; Religion without sacrifice; Politics without principle; Science without humanity; Business without ethics.”— Mahatma Gandhi
“Always do right. This will gratify some people and astonish the rest.” — Mark Twain
