Let’s talk about that “Book Me Now” post you just dropped on social media. You know the one—the cute, professional shot from your branding photoshoot with a caption that simply says, “I’m available for speaking engagements.”
Yeah… that’s not going to cut it.
Look, I get it. You’re excited. You felt like Beyonce’ during the photo shoot and got hyped up by the photographer.
But your goal?
You want to land more speaking gigs.
But here’s the truth: event planners and decision-makers aren’t just looking for a polished photo. They’re looking for speakers who bring value, who can move an audience, and who have something meaningful to say.
Show Us What You Got
Before you ask people to book you, prove why they should. Instead of relying on a photo, craft a short, impactful email, newsletter, or social media post that offers something of value. Here are a few ways to do that:
- Share an industry insight – What’s happening in your field that event planners and audiences need to know?
- Give a quick actionable tip – Drop a gem that will immediately help your audience.
- Post a clip of your interview on Expert Insight where you are sharing your framework or book.
- Tell a compelling story – Showcase a transformation or powerful lesson from your journey.
- Answer a burning question – What’s a common problem your ideal audience faces, and how do you solve it?
When you consistently deliver value, you position yourself as the go-to expert in your niche. And guess what? People will start reaching out to you without you having to beg for bookings.
At least have a team member or a publicist post for you and promote you, don’t beg to bookings.
That’s not a good optic!
What you see below is what NOT TO POST on your social media – it looks desperate.
Make Your Ask Count
Once you’ve shared something valuable, then—and only then—can you make your ask. But do it with intention. Instead of just slapping “Book me now!” at the end of your post, tie it into what you just shared.
For example:
➡️ “If you found this tip helpful and want me to share more insights like these with your audience, let’s talk about bringing me to your next event.”
➡️ “I teach this and more in my keynote, ‘[Insert Your Signature Talk Title Here].’ Looking for a dynamic speaker who delivers real impact? Let’s connect.”
The Bottom Line
Your headshot is nice, but it won’t book you speaking gigs. Event planners need to see your value before they invest in you. So, ditch the empty ‘book me’ posts and start leading with substance.
