Computer Thoughts in the Age of Manic Marketing

computer thought

The internet has a lot of information on marketing, but it can be tough to sift through everything and figure out what’s actually useful. A lot of the time, the information is conflicting, and it’s hard to know who to believe.

There are a gazillion FB ads, webinars, membership sites, online courses, eBooks, tip sheets, podcasts – and social media to make one crazy…

That’s why I’ve decided to write this article: to give my thoughts on marketing in the age of manic marketing. I’ll be discussing some of the main points that I think are important to keep in mind, and hopefully by the end you’ll have a better understanding of what’s going on.

First and foremost, I think it’s important to realize that not all marketing is created equal. There is a lot of bad marketing out there, and it’s important to be able to spot it. A lot of times, bad marketing is created by people who are just trying to make a quick buck, and they don’t really care about the quality of their product.  There are so many bad books, courses and coaching programs… but they promise the world and all fall short. Don’t believe the hype; look at the history.

Another thing to keep in mind is that not all media is created equal. Just because something is on TV or the radio doesn’t mean that it’s good marketing. In fact, a lot of times, traditional media is not as effective as it used to be. But you do need to be INTERVIEWED by media journalists or some other influencer in your the niche you’re trying to reach. Nothing beats a fresh story written by a professional journalist.

Leverage other people’s platforms! Like Speakers Magazine. (see below)

The other thing that is very important is to stay true to what feels good to you!  Don’t chase after every “new” thing if it’s not your thing! If you can’t get into Clubhouse or TikTok – leave it alone. Do what feels good to you and is getting results.  I try them all so I can share with my clients the pros and cons of each. I also teach digital marketing.

Finally, I think it’s important to remember that your website is your most important marketing tool. Your website is the face of your business, and it’s important to make sure that it’s professional and up-to-date.  Don’t be cheap, have a professional do it!

Keep these things in mind, and you’ll be on your way to understanding marketing in the age of manic marketing.

Thanks for reading! I hope this was helpful.
